As the COVID-19 pandemic having a massive social and economic impact comes to an end, it is the moment to raise the UNESCO Global Geoparks profile as safe destinations for holidays in nature and recreation.
During the COVID-19 pandemic both developed and developing economies have been hit and marginalized groups and the most vulnerable have been hit hardest of all! Geoparks contribute to social cohesion, supporting local communities and promoting an inclusive development for all.
The restart of tourism will help kickstart recovery and growth. It is essential that the benefits this will bring are enjoyed widely and fairly.
