The Global Geoparks Network celebrates the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples and uses this occasion to bring awareness to Indigenous Peoples. UNESCO Global Geoparks can provide a respectful place for the Indigenous Peoples of the World that honors and respects their cultural contributions, their language, customs, and their deep understanding of the natural environment. The knowledge and culture of Indigenous Peoples enrich our Global Geoparks.

On this International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, Global Geoparks seek to lift up the voices of Indigenous Peoples and to celebrate their knowledge.

The Global Geoparks Network Executive Board asks all Geopark management bodies, partners and stakeholders to join the campaign and to promote through social media the important role of their indigenous peoples, their culture and their communities.
