Season’s Greetings

The Global Geoparks Network Executive Board wishes

to all Geoparks

peace, health, happiness, success, prosperity, joy

to realize your wishes!

Dear colleagues,

Only a few days have been left before the end of the year 2023, a year that gave us the opportunity to meet again face to face, all the members of the Geoparks family, during the 10th International Conference on UNESCO Global Geoparks in Morocco, after more than three years of pandemic restrictions and gave us the hope to continue all together in 2024.

2024 marks a major milestone for our Global Geoparks Network (GGN), as we celebrate 20-years history of our Network. The 20th Anniversary of our Global Geoparks Network marks 20 years since the foundation of a Global Network of cooperation among Geoparks worldwide in order to promote the three main goals of conserving our Geological Heritage and planet Earth, our common home, educating the public in Earth Sciences, and fostering sustainable local development.

The Global Geoparks Network (GGN) was initially founded in 2004 as an international partnership developed under the umbrella of UNESCO and serves to develop models of best practice and set quality-standards for territories that integrate the protection of Earth heritage sites in a strategy for sustainable economic development. Networking and collaboration among the Global Geoparks is the most important component of the Global Geoparks Network.

The Global Geoparks Network for its 20th Anniversary launches a special logo designed in the context of its birthday celebration. The 20th Anniversary logo inaugurates the GGN’s anniversary campaign and the GGN invites all its members to participate in its celebrations.
The Global Geoparks Network will also organize a variety of events, contests, will produce a celebration video campaigns and a social media campaign all around the year. A regularly updated calendar of events at the GGN website is presenting all these events.

This anniversary is also an invitation to all Global Geoparks Network members and their local communities to organize their events and activities, to join the GGN’s social media campaign and to follow the anniversary events.

We are looking forward to receiving your events and your activities for the 20th Anniversary of the Global Geoparks Network and the GGN will promote them through its facebook page:

Let’s make the 20th Anniversary of the Global Geoparks Network (GGN) a great moment for all Geoparks and all our communities!
